Welcome to Jamie’s Urban Garden. I am a garden enthusiast, a lover of native plants, pollinators, and all things that bloom. After buying a house on a small lot in St. Paul, Minnesota I began to turn the yard into a pollinator garden. It started small with a few native plants. That eventually turned into an entire front yard of blooms, a mix of cottage garden muddled with native plants. Complete chaotic beauty crammed into a few thousand square feet. But I always longed for a cut flower garden, I felt guilty taking blooms from the pollinators for my enjoyment. I decided to turn some of the mostly untouched backyard into that garden, while still leaving room for the dogs to play. A cut flower garden would not be complete without the beautiful dahlia. This will be the first year growing dahlia tubers, hopefully it will not be my last. Please join me on my dahlia journey… it should be fun!
I am committed to sustainability and reducing my environmental impact. I try to only use organic and non-toxic products and follow best practices to promote biodiversity and conserve water. I believe that a beautiful garden can also be an eco-friendly one.
